Sam Woolf, 17, is one of 13 finalists on American Idol.
Woolf of Bradenton, Florida is still a high school student, but is quickly gaining fame in the Fox competition.
He says via his website that he’s been singing for as long as he remembers.
“Music is my life. I play guitar and like to write my own songs. If I had to describe my music, I would say it falls in the lines of acoustic/folk/rock with a little pop. My songs mean a lot to me and I want to share them with the world.”
Woolf has numerous fans, among them former Idol star Chris Daughtry. He also has some at his school, as he performs concerts there.
He’s seeking to bring a fresh voice to America, saying on Twitter: “I want to be known as the first, not ‘the next’ someone.”
