Safe Homes of Orange County will hold events to observe Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October. The kickoff event includes a ceremony, press conference, and open house at the Safe Homes office at 280 Broadway in Newburgh on Oct. 3 at noon. Other events include In Her Shoes, an interactive workshop, a Healing Through the Trauma training, the Clothesline Project, a display of shirts made by survivors of domestic abuse and their loved ones, a screening of The Mask We Live In, and Orange Wears Purple Day. Safe Homes is a non-profit that works to eliminate domestic violence, dating violence, and human trafficking. Safe Homes also offers a 24-hour hotline to support domestic violence survivors.
