Safe Homes of Orange County is competing for $325,000 from the The Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse Challenge.

The Purple Purse Challenge is part of The Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse program, which aims to help end domestic violence and financial abuse by providing victims the money they need to be financially independent.

The foundation helps organizations that aid domestic violence survivors, and last year it raised almost $3.1 million for such organizations across the United States.

The competition is hosted on the fundraising website CrowdRise, and coincides with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, October. To help Safe Homes win, people can donate to Safe Homes on CrowdRise by visiting tinyurl.com/j58p3sj between Sept. 28 and Oct. 25.

Safe Homes is an organization that helps adult and child survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and teen dating violence. Safe Home said this is the first time it has participated in the competition.
