Ryan Raso, a homeless man in San Francisco, earned accolades from the San Francisco Police Department after coming to the rescue of a police officer who was being attacked.

Raso, 35, came to the aid of a female police officer who confronted a woman who was jumping up and down on cars, denting them.

The woman became agitated and attacked the officer.

Raso was walking by.

“The person had the officer kind of in a choke hold, was kind of, had the officer against the wall, kind of banging, beating her head into the wall,” Raso said.

Raso said a small crowd was watching.

“A law enforcement officer is saying, ‘help me, help me’ when there’s no one else around doing anything,” Raso told KGO-TV.

Raso is a former detective, . 

Police officers at the station that the officer is from said they’re going to try to help Raso and bought him new headphones after his broke while saving the police officer.

Raso says it was not that big of a deal.

“An officer was being beaten up, a human; so I just did what’s right, you know,” he said.
