Ryan McHenry, a filmmaker best known for making the viral “Ryan Gosling won’t eat his cereal” meme, recently learned that he got cancer.
To help deal with the bad news, he appealed to his fans on Twitter and Facebook to help him photoshop different hairstyles on his now bald head.
“PHOTOSHOP CHALLENGE! Take this photo and apply any hairstyle you want on me...” he said.
Besides receiving plenty of creative responses, people also launched a “Ryan McHenry won’t eat his Cancer. weloveryan” campaign on Indiegog, where over $10,000 has been raised for him.
“It was incredible. I was just sitting in my hospital bed just watching all this unfold,” McHenry told the Verge. “The other really bizarre thing is, I’ve never really shown my face or become a character in front of the camera. All I’ve done is put a spoon towards a television.”
McHenry has decided to stay positive about the cancer, vowing to fight it and keep sharing things with his fans.
