Ryan Loskarn, the chief of staff to Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander, is being investigated for child pornography, reports said on Wednesday.
“I was just informed by the United States Senate legal counsel’s office that law enforcement agents are conducting a search of the personal residence of Ryan Loskarn, the chief of staff of my Washington, D.C., office regarding allegations involving child pornography,” Alexander said, reported Politico. “I am stunned, surprised and disappointed by what I have learned.
Loskarn was placed on administrative leave by Alexander, who is a Senator from Tennessee.
The nature of the investigation was not immediately disclosed.
Politico described Loskarn as a longtime aide to Alexander.
Loskarn has been a longtime GOP strategist and worked in the U.S. Senate Republican Conference before he was hired as Alexander’s chief of staff in the senator’s Washington, D.C. office in November 2011, according to the Daily News.
