Ryan Braun was suspended without pay for the remainder of the season, it was reported Monday.
Braun, who plays for the Milwaukee Brewers, was suspended for “violations of Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program,” said MLB.com’s Twitter feed late on Monday afternoon.
The move followed speculation that the leftfielder was expected to be suspended after the All-Star because he did not cooperate with the league’s investigation into his ties with the Biogenesis clinic.
A report from JSOnline.com earlier this month said Braun was interviewed by league officials on June 29.
However, according to the report, Braun refused to answer questions.
