Round 9 of the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union Premiership League last Saturday Dec 1 saw top and bottom of the table clashes.

In the top of the table match between Leighton Asia HKCC and Newedge Club at Aberdeen Sports Ground, Club won a close battle 25:22 to get back to within one point of the current leaders and still have a game in hand.

HKCC go into the Christmas break on top of the standings and both teams have matches on the first week of the second half of the season. However, HKCC will have no game on Jan 12, when Club will play away to Abacus Kowloon at Kings Park. This will even up the matches played to nine for the two leading teams.

In the match played at Sek Kip Mei, Verizon HK Scottish beat Borrelli Walsh Tigers by 25 points to 17, enabling them to push ahead of the Tigers into a clear fourth place position. HK Scottish also still have a game in hand.

In the bottom of the table match, ONEwork’s Valley just edged a win over SCAA Standard Life CWB Rams 19:16 at So Kon Po Sports Ground to take them off the bottom of the table
