The official website for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding launched Wednesday, the royal family announced.

Launched by St. James’s Palace, www.officialroyalwedding2011.org, is the official information service that will regularly announce wedding details and release photo galleries, features, videos, and links to important information, according to a press release.

Prince William, who is second in line to the throne, and Middleton are tying the knot on April 29 at Westminster Abbey.

On the big day, the website will release details, including those of Middleton’s wedding dress.

The website already has virtual tours and details of the places for the service, procession, and reception.

Hosted by Google App Engine and built by Accenture, the website is designed to handle large, global peaks in web traffic.

The British monarchy is already active on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr.
