Roy Oswalt signs: The three-time All-Star pitcher agreed to a minor-league deal with the Colorado Rockies.

The team said on Twitter that the deal would have Oswalt reporting to extended spring training.

Oswalt’s record in 12 years in the major leagues is 163-96, 3.28 ERA, being 4-0 with 2.25 ERA at Coors Field, according to the team.

On his Twitter account, Oswalt tweeted: “Always loved the mountains, im back!”

Oswalt hasn’t pitched in the majors since Oct. 2, when he was with the Texas Rangers. He’s also played for Houston and Philadelphia.

When he was with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2010 he went 7-1 and then 1-1 in the postseason, according to Yahoo! Sports. But a trip home to Mississippi in spring 2011 to help clean up after a string of tornadoes damages his property as well as his parent’s land ultimately left him with a back problems, after which he went 9-10. A trade to the Rangers didn’t end well for the former star.

Oswalt is now 35.

The first-place Rockies certainly could use a boost on the mound with righty Jhoulys Chacin on the 15-day disabled list due to a strained lower back.
