Rosdeep Kular, mother of Mikaeel Kular, has been arrested in connection to the missing boy’s death.
Mikaeel, 3, was found dead late Thursday night in Fife.
“We strongly believe this to be the body of Mikaeel,” Police Scotland Assistant Chief Constable Malcolm Graham said in a statement.
“Members of Mikaeel’s family have been informed of the recovery. Our thoughts and sympathies are with them at this time.”
Kular is expected to make an appearance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday morning, Graham said.
Mikaeel went missing on Wednesday in Edinburgh.
Police received over 500 calls from members of the public looking to assist in establishing the circumstances of Mikaeel’s disappearance, and support from search agencies and individuals.
