Actor Rob Lowe has been named as a possible replacement for Charlie Sheen on the popular Warner Brothers sitcom Two and A Half Men. Sheen recently spoke publicly about Lowe giving him an endorsement for the role.

People magazine reported that Lowe and John Stamos were potential replacements for Sheen, who has been fired from Two and A Half Men due to personal problems. Sheen says that he supports both actors for the role. He also mentioned that Lowe was an old friend of the Sheen family.

“I think they’re both fabulous,” said Sheen, “and my apologies to John. I was rude to him earlier, John Stamos. That was unnecessary. ... What I would advise them to do, though, is just make it their own. Don’t, don’t, don’t think about anything that I’ve done brilliantly on the show for 177,000 episodes,” Sheen told People magazine.

Sheen’s initial response to the idea of Stamos’ possible involvement in the project was less than courteous. He was quoted by People as describing the situation as a “tragic joke.”

According to TV Guide, Lowe is an unlikely replacement for Sheen due to his contractual agreement to appear on NBC’s Parks and Recreational. The agreement was said to span multiple years. No word has been given as to whether or not Warner Brothers would attempt to buy out his contract with NBC.

“He has a regular series deal. He’s sticking with Parks and Rec,” said one network insider to TV Guide.

TMZ recently posted an article detailing Two and A Half Men’s producer Chuck Lorre’s interest in keeping the show afloat despite Sheen’s absence. Lorre has contacted Lowe’s agent William Morris-Endeavor but Lowe has not spoken publicly about the issue.
