Rihanna’s Hairstylist Opens New Salon in Fort Greene

Brooklyn native welcomes multiculture hair

NEW YORK— Brooklyn native Ursula Stephen is opening up a salon in Fort Greene after being a professional hair stylist for celebrities such as Rhianna, Keyshia Cole, and the Kandi from the “Real Housewives of Atlanta.”

Stephen is known for giving Rihanna the side shave, bob, and red locks. Her salon will be for open to all races and hair types.

“I don’t look at hair in terms of race; I look at it as textures,” Stephen wrote on The Cut. “I want the salon to be versatile. I want to see a white girl getting a blowout, and a black girl getting a weave...I dreamed of an atmosphere where it was mixed together.”

Stephen’s salon will open for business this month at 66 Lafayette Avenue.
