Energy Secretary Rick Perry said in an interview released by “Fox & Friends” over the weekend that he thinks President Donald Trump is the “chosen one.”

“God’s used imperfect people all through history. King David wasn’t perfect. Saul wasn’t perfect. Solomon wasn’t perfect,” Perry told Fox News. “And I actually gave the president a little one-pager on those Old Testament kings about a month ago, and I shared it with him.”

“I said, ‘Mr. President, I know there are people that say you said you were the chosen one,’ and I said, ‘You were.’”

Perry said there’s a “plan for the people who rule and judge over us on this planet in our government.”

“I said, ‘If you’re a believing Christian, you understand God’s plan for the people who rule and judge over us on this planet in our government.’

“Barack Obama didn’t get to be the president of the United States without being ordained by God. Neither did Donald Trump.”

Regarding Trump, he said, “I hope I’ve been a bit of a minister, if you will, a person who’s been able to share my faith with the president.”

Earlier this year amid the trade war, Trump referred to himself as the “chosen one” to take on China’s trade practices.

He said, “Somebody said this is Trump’s trade war. It’s not my trade war. This is a trade war that should have taken place a long time ago by a lot of other presidents.”

“Somebody had to do it. I am the chosen one.”

Trump later said he was just joking and having fun when he made the comment.

Fox News chief national correspondent Ed Henry noted that Perry had “pointed out to me he believes Barack Obama was sent by God as well, for that moment and that time.”

“He thinks at this moment and this time, Donald Trump was sent by God to do great things,” Henry said.

Perry hasn’t testified in the impeachment inquiry against Trump, but Perry has stated publicly that he was working in Ukraine to root out corruption and focus on natural gas policy.

“Not once was the name Burisma or the Bidens mentioned to me, not by the president, not by Rudy Giuliani and not by Gordon Sondland,” Perry said last week. “And if there’s anyone saying anything different, then they’re surmising, and that’s not a wise thing to do. I know what I saw. I know what I heard.”
