Richie Incognito Suspended Indefinitely Over Role in Jonathan Martin Case

Richie Incognito has been suspended indefinitely by the Miami Dolphins because of his detrimental conduct, the team said late Sunday.

“The Miami Dolphins have suspended Richie Incognito for conduct detrimental to the team,” Miami said in a statement. “We believe in maintaining a culture of respect for one another and as a result we believe this decision is in the best interest of the organization at this time. As we noted earlier, we reached out to the NFL to conduct an objective and thorough review. We will continue to work with the league on this matter.”

It was reported on Sunday that Incognito was the “ringleader” of the group who harassed Martin.

Martin has left the team for the time being after ongoing bullying.

Sources told CBS that Martin has no plans to return to the team, waiting to see what the team will do and focusing on getting himself better.

Last week’s flare-up between Martin and his teammates, “was not an isolated incident — not even close,” one source said. “It’s been going on almost since they drafted him.”

Incognitio has denied any role in the matter on Twitter.

“Stop slandering my name,” he told one ESPN reporter. “This is the second time you have tried to drag my name through the mud with with lies.”

To ESPN, he said “Shame on you for attaching my name to false speculation. I won’t be holding my breathe for an apology.”
