RGIII to marry: Robert Griffin III, the Washington Redskins star quarterback, is going to get married this summer.
Griffin’s mom told Fox the news. Griffin, meanwhile, stays away from the spotlight.
“You would never know, based on his press conferences and everything he does in the media, but he still has that shyness to him and that quietness to him,” Griffin’s mom said. “He loves being at home, quiet and to himself. That hasn’t changed.”
Griffin was creative in his proposal to Rebecca Liddicoat; he proposed while still a student at Baylor in 2010.
Griffin told Liddicoat that he had to go to the indoor practice facility after the game, and asked her to meet him there.
Griffin ducked in the bathroom, his dad gave him the ring, and he met Liddicoat in the facility, which had candles everywhere.
“I had one of my teammates playing the guitar, so I talked to her and serenaded her,” Griffin said. “I walked into the middle where her family was standing with candles and I popped the question.
“I couldn’t see her face to see her crying, because it was so dark. But when I kissed her I felt the wetness on her cheeks.'’
