Robert Griffin III, or RG III, the Washington Redskins star quarterback, unveiled a new hairstyle on August 12.
He tightened up his hair, leaving behind loose braids for cornrows.
“The guys love it — they love cornrows,” he said at an afternoon press conference.
“I enjoy it, I like it,” he said.
Griffin got the cornrows done at The Beauty Bar in Richmond, Virginia.
Candace Hargrove, who did the hair, told CBS what happened.
“He told me to do whatever I wanted to do so I did whatever came to my head,” said Hargrove, who has worked at the salon since it opened two years ago.
The establishment posted a photo of the two on Twitter.
Apart from discussing his new hairstyle, Griffin said that “there’s no doubt” he will be playing in the first game of the season. He has been recovering from knee surgery. He still won’t play during the preseason, a decision of coach Mike Shanahan’s.
“And there’s some part of it that I do understand. I don’t understand all of it,” Griffin said. “But at the end of the day, he gave me his word privately. … When you give your word to somebody, that’s all you have. So I’m just banking that they’re going to stay true to their word and I’m staying true to mine. I’m doing everything they ask me to do without any gripes, other than with you guys.”
Griffin will begin participating in live drills tomorrow, August 12.
