Police are responding to reports of shots fired at the Jersey Gardens Mall in Elizabeth, New Jersey, on Monday evening.
According to ABC7, “chaos and panic erupted” in the mall, located near Newark, after a fight broke out.
Officials in Elizabeth said there was no shooting, but some witnesses reported there was.
However, ABC said it was only a fight and a chair was thrown, creating a loud noise that resembled a gunshot.
Several people were injured as they attempted to evacuate the premises.
PIX-11 reported that police responded to a report at around 5 p.m. local time, but an hour later, there was an evacuation.
NJ Transit buses going to the mall were delayed for as long as an hour.
No arrests have been made.
