The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is reportedly mulling over a second fine for Toyota Motor Corp. for failing to disclose information to consumers related to its sticky gas pedals, which prompted a global recall of millions of vehicles earlier this year.

In a letter from NHTSA to Toyota, chief counsel Kevin Vincent wrote that Toyota exposed “millions of American drivers, passengers, and pedestrians to the dangers of driving with a sticking accelerator pedal.”

Last week, NHTSA fined Toyota $16.4 million, the biggest civil fine ever levied in the United States.

The agency said that another fine might be imposed if it decides that the accelerator pedal issue consists of two separate issues related to safety, according to the Detroit Free Press.
