Regis Philbin has been selected to host the Daytime Emmy Awards, where he is nominated for an award himself alongside his co-host Kelly Ripa.

Regis Philbin, the longtime daytime television personality and singer, has been popular on American television for more than 25 years. He is a natural choice to represent the world of daytime television for the Daytime Emmys.

“I am delighted to host the Daytime Emmys this year. It’s going to be a great night with my daytime brothers and sisters, and I hope everyone wins an award this year,” said Regis in a statement to The Orlando Sentinel.

The Daytime Emmys are scheduled for Sunday June 27th in Las Vegas, Nevada. A long line of soap opera stars will be in attendance for the event. All My Children and General Hospital received nominations, along with As the World Turns, which is to be canceled after a mammoth 54 seasons.

Live with Regis and Kelly was earlier Live with Regis and Kathy Lee. Kathy Lee Gifford was with Philbin for over ten years, making her the longest running co host on the show. The Morning show first started broadcasting in 1983.
