“My mother was reminding me this morning that this is my 20th year of making movies," Witherspoon said at the ceremony. "I started when I was 14-years-old.”

Her children Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7, were there to support her, along with canine co-star Bruiser from Legally Blonde.

Also present was filmmaker James L. Brooks, who wrote and directed her latest movie, How Do You Know, coming to cinemas Dec. 17.

Witherspoon's parents and agent Jim Toth were seen in the audience, according to People magazine.

“My mom really wanted me to be a pediatric cardiologist, so … sorry mom. My dad really wanted me to be the great American novelist, so … sorry dad," said Witherspoon at the event.

"But as it turns out, as a result of this career I have been a doctor, a Harvard Law School graduate, an Olympic athlete, a very famous country western singer, a fashion designer, a juvenile delinquent, a circus performer, a ruthless high school politico, and a fifty-foot woman.”

Witherspoon, 34, has starred in 25 films and produced 5. Highlights of her noteworthy career to date include Pleasantville (1998), Cruel Intentions (1999), Sweet Home Alabama (2002) and Walk the Line (2005).

For her role as June Carter Cash in Walk the Line, she received an Oscar, Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and Screen Actors Guild Award.
