Reality TV Star Valerie Fairman Dies at Age 23: Reports

Valerie Fairman, who appeared on reality TV show “16 and Pregnant,” has died at the age of 23, according to reports.

The Chester County Coroner told People magazine that Fairman’s death is currently under investigation. Her family has been notified.

She appeared on MTV’s “16 and Pregnant” in 2009. The show was a documentary-style reality TV program that aired from 2009 to 2014. The show spawned “Teen Mom” and spinoffs.

“We are saddened by the news of Valerie Fairman’s passing,” an MTV spokesperson told Variety. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.”

“How incredibly sad. My heart goes out to her daughter and family.” Jenelle Evans, who also appeared on the show, wrote on Twitter. “Don’t take life for granted. Hold your children and love them close,” added Jenelle Evans, who also was on the program.

As TMZ reported, Fairman’s family said she died of a presumed drug overdose. She was  “at a friend’s home in Coatesville, Pennsylvania Wednesday when the friend repeatedly called for Valerie, who was in the bathroom, but she did not come out. We’re told the friend broke down the door and found her unresponsive,” the report stated. Her daughter, 7-year-old Nevaeh, is currently staying with Fairman’s mother. She gave birth to Nevaeh in 2009.
