A real-life Grinch has popped up in a quite a few cities. Watch out for your Christmas gifts!

As Christmas Eve approaches, burglars take it as a sign that wonderful Christmas presents will soon be put under the trees, making the quiet pre-Christmas days perfect for some seasonal breaking and entering.

On Dec. 20, Florida couple Amanda and Matt Braxton returned home as usual in the afternoon, only to find that all of the presents they had prepared were gone. The burglar took other items apart from what was under the Christmas tree. He also made off with Braxton´s TV and a camera Mrs. Braxton had bought for her 7-year-old son, a budding photographer, according to JCFloridan.com.

Similarly, on the morning of Dec. 22, toys donated to the United States’ Marine Corps’ Toys for Tots program were stolen in Boston.

“This is a despicable crime ... against the hundreds of children in need who would have received these gifts and who now will not,” said Colonel Marian J. McGovern, superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police to the Christian Science Monitor, citing an official statement.

The stolen toys are worth up to $15,000.

In yet another incident of Yuletide theft, the Salvation Army headquarters in Newburgh, New York found on Dec. 20 that 60 gifts the organization had wrapped were missing. The gifts were intended to surprise children from the poor neighborhoods during the holidays. Police are on the case, but so far the stolen gifts have not been recovered, according to a report by CBS New York.
