Raul Gonzalez has left Univision’s Despierta America program, opting not to renew his contract.

The Venezuelan started out as a guest co-host and was made a regular after producers appreciated his professional and engaging demeanor.

Some rumors have started about Gonzalez moving to Telemundo’s “Un Nuevo Dia,” where other former “Despierta America” presenters have gone, such as Neida Sandoval.

Gonzalez said in his farewell (video below): “I am leaving because I want to take a break, I am leaving with the illusion of doing new things. You know that human beings complete cycles and the same way I arrived 13 years ago to ‘Despierta América’ and I fulfilled the dream of working here, as a human being I want to find new horizons,” reported Latin Times.

“I want to make it clear that from my heart I leave the loveliest and happiest family that I’ve had had in my career. I want to thank everyone, if I name all of them I will not have time,” he said.

Karla cried during the farewell, calling him “the best co-worker” and “a great teacher.”

“He has now decided to migrate and look for a dream and we all support you, you count on all of us and this is for you,” she said.

A source told HuffPost that his fellow hosts “can not believe it.”

The source said that Gonzalez is not happy about leaving but wasn’t happy with the contract offered.
