Rapper Bun B was involved in a shootout with a suspected home intruder at his Houston home on Tuesday, April 23, according to reports.
While Queenie directed the suspect to the car, Bun B, who had heard the commotion, grabbed his gun and came downstairs to confront the Jackson in the garage, according to police. Several shots were reportedly fired before Jackson fled on foot, leaving behind his gun.
Jackson later showed up at a hospital for treatment for a gunshot wound, police said. He was subsequently arrested and is now facing two counts of aggravated robbery with a weapon and one count burglary, according to the news website.
Other Homeowners Using Guns as Self-Defense
In a similar case, a Texas homeowner used a gun to protect his home after five men—some who were armed with large guns—broke into his home in January.The homeowner grabbed his gun and shot at the suspected home invaders. One of the suspects was left dead in front of the house. One fled on foot, while the others, some who were injured, fled in an SUV.
The other two suspects who were wounded and had fled the scene were taken to the hospital.
Property Crime Declined in First Half of 2018
According to preliminary statistics released by the FBI on Feb. 25, violent crime and property crime in the first half of 2018 fell compared to the first half of the previous year.The report found that robbery offenses fell by 12.5 percent while murder and non-negligent manslaughter offenses decreased 6.7 percent. Meanwhile, aggravated assault offenses dropped 2 percent.
The FBI also found that all property crimes showed a decrease when comparing data from first six months of 2018 and the same period the year before. Burglaries were down 12.7 percent, larceny-thefts decreased 6.3 percent, and motor vehicle thefts declined 3.3 percent, the report said.
