Raoul Weil, a former top executive at UBS who is wanted in the United States, was arrested in Italy on Sunday.

Weil, 54, was arrested at a luxury hotel in Bologna, reported AFP.

He checked in with his real name, which triggered a police check since he is on an international fugitive list.

Weil is wanted in the United States for allegedly helping some Americans hide $20 billion from taxation.

“He was arrested at the hotel and he is now being held in prison. He did not explain why he was in Italy,” a spokeswoman for Bologna police told AFP.
