Randy Travis, the country music singer, was admitted to a hospital in Texas.
WSMV-TV in Nashville, an NBC affiliate, reported on its Twitter that he was in “critical condition.”
It later reported that Travis was suffering from a “heart ailment.”
Celebrity news website TMZ reported that Travis is “suffering from complications stemming from viral cardiomyopathy,” according to his spokesperson.
Webster & Associates Public Relations & Marketing told the Dallas Morning News: “The Grammy winner is suffering from complications of recently acquired viral cardiomyopathy. Travis was admitted into the medical facility yesterday.”
Last month, Travis released a song in tribute of the late country legend George Jones, who died earlier this year. The song, “Tonight I’m Playin’ Possum,” was released June 12, according to The Boot website.
As a recording artist of 25 years, Travis is a member of the Grand Ole Opry and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
