Raksha Bandhan was just celebrated in 2014 on Sunday, August 10, and people are wondering when the Hindu festival will be next year.

The holiday will fall on Sunday, August 29 in 2015.

The holiday will fall on Thursday, August 18 in 2016.

According to the Times of India, Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival, wherein a sister ties a knot around her brother’s wrist, who pledges to protect her in all circumstances.

“Bollywood is full of loving siblings who celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan every year with great enthusiasm. While some of the actresses may not have real brothers, they make sure to have a Rakhi brother from the industry,” it reported of this year’s festival.

“On the occasion of Rakhsha Bandhan on Sunday, most of the celebrities took to micro blogging site twitter to express their enthusiasm about the festival. While some celebrated the festival early, few did it later in the day.”

Besides India, the festival is primarily observed in Nepal and Pakistan, although some observe it around the world.
