Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing driver Graham Rahal, who became the youngest-ever IRL polesitter last weekend at Long Beach, has captured his second straight IndyCar pole at the Kansas Speedway with a speed of 211.311 mph.

Teammate Rob Doornbos will sit next to him on the front row after qualifying second with n average speed of 210.665 mph.

Long Beach winner Dario Franchitti and newly-returned Helio Castroneves initially had the second- and third-fastest times, but their runs were disallowed because both crossed the white caution line at the bottom of the track.

Indy Racing League chief steward Brian Barnhart, after reviewing tapes of their runs, decided both drivers had fully crossed the line with their left-side tires and thus were “out of bounds.” Franchitti and Castroneves averaged 210.967 and 210.857, respectively.

Danica Patrick qualified third with a very precise set of laps averaging 210.470.

The Roadrunner Turbo Indy 300 at Kansas Speedway starts at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 26. Please visit the Kansas Speedway web site for details.
