NEW YORK—Sometimes one can appreciate a moment of serenity and peace in one of the least expected places; like one of New York City’s busiest subway stations, Grand Central Station.
Commuters rushing to and from Times Square on the shuttle train platform were greeted on March 14 with the soothing sounds of Brandenburg concertos, toe-tapping tangos, and Mozart’s famous “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”—often walking in step with the music, the tempo driving the pace.
The sounds of classical music filtered out the track noises and footsteps, and many passersby paused to take in the moment of serenity before hustling on to their destinations. Some stayed longer, milling about in the distance, eager to get ready for the train, but not wanting to miss out on the music.
The quartet, playing for Hopkins Entertainment, consisted of three Juilliard School students, and one Juilliard School graduate.
