NEW YORK—Since 1984, New York City has held annual Fleet Week celebrations to honor the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. This year, from May 25 to May 31, service personnel serving all over the country celebrate their vacations, provide the public with opportunities to enjoy ship tours, witness military demonstrations, displays, and ceremonies. Let’s hear from our soldiers and sailors about how they are enjoying Fleet Week.

The Epoch Times asks: How do you like Fleet Week in New York?

I love New York City. It’s awesome. We saw Rihanna at the “Today Show” at the Rockefeller Center. We are going to the New York Mets game. On Monday there will be a parade. We are stationed on Staten Island. It’s close but nobody doesn’t like New York. Nothing is quite like New York.

I’ve been here since Wednesday. So far I’ve got to see Broadway operas, the Empire State Building, [and] the Statue of Liberty. It’s really great. We had a party. It’s amazing. Everybody here loves us. There was actually a guy who gave me 50 bucks to buy drinks because he supports us.

I think it’s awesome. It’s fun. We’ve been sightseeing everywhere, the Empire State Building, [and] Fifth Avenue. It looks like the people love us.

It’s awesome. It’s wonderful. I’ve never seen anything like this before, where people come from all over the world. The people of New York are very lovely, very supportive. I love everything about them. We actually have a brass band called the New Orleans Band and we are going to perform for the people here on Times Square and Pier 88. We try to pay back all the support we have been getting.

It’s quite awesome. We’ve been doing a lot of sightseeing and shopping.
