BERLIN, Germany—Despite snow and a cold and windy evening, the Berliners came to see the Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company performance at the Berlin Internationales Congress Centrum.

Mr. Siegfried Leukert, a painter and musician, and his friend Anita Lehmann, a psychologist and diet consultant, were in the audience, watching the colorful and exhilarating performance of classical Chinese

dance and music.

“I’m deeply impressed and feel as I have been transported into a different world and immersed myself into what was presented on stage,” said Mr. Leukert.

Mr. Leukert was amazed by the animated backdrops that transported to audience to another reality.

“It is amazing to see the techniques used to mirror reality. One sees figures on stage, and then they disappear into the background. Just outstanding!”

Ms. Lehman shared that she was as amazed as her friend: “I’m just as impressed as my friend. This includes the amazing colors of the costumes and the music.”

“The hi-tech images in the background were unique and amazing,” she said.

The Shen Yun presents classical Chinese dance and music, an art distinctively different than what one can see in the West. It is a study in grace, wisdom and the virtues that have been distilled into the nation from five millennia of Chinese civilization.

“I can go on and on about my impression but most importantly, I don’t want to forget to mention the discipline of the dancers. This is a great art that we were shown today,” Ms. Lehmann said.

As an artist who paints and at the same time a musician, Mr. Leukert immersed himself into the show and let his artistic side experience the show.

“As a painter and musician, the colors affected me on a deep level. Besides, the music that is a combination of an Eastern and Western composition, touches my senses profoundly,” Mr. Leukert said.

“The color combination of yellow and pink is truly impressive! This combination generally is not something that is seen by European eyes, something that repeats itself over and over again during the show. I must say that I’m deeply impressed.”

Ms. Lehman’s thoughts went along the same line as Mr. Leukerts. She said, “I found it beautiful.  The pastels, the charming music, and the graciousness of the dancers resonated with me.”
