NEWYORK—On the Hunts Point Peninsula in the Bronx, a 425,000-square-foot, vacant, and shovel-ready parcel of land is waiting to be developed. The city’s Economic Development Corporation is seeking proposals to develop the site.
The site is at the corner of Halleck Street and Food Center Drive. The request for proposal outlines construction and operation of a modern industrial building, “with a preference for food-related industrial uses,” according to the corporation. The site is located within the Hunts Point Food Distribution Center, the world’s largest.
The last date for proposals is May 23, 2012. Developers will be chosen based on experience of key staff, uses proposed, and experience and quality of any subcontractors proposed, among other factors.
