Police are on the hunt in Harlem after a prisoner escaped from a police car Monday.

A search for the prisoner, who is reportedly still handcuffed, halted subway service across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx late Monday morning, according to the New York Times.

The man was arrested at his home on Monday in connection with a series of robberies. He jumped out of a police car near 145th Street and Saint Nicholas Avenue in Harlem around 10:15 a.m., and went into a nearby subway station.

It’s not clear how the escapee managed to get free.

Subway service was suspended on much of the B and D lines, and parts of the A and C lines.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
