Prince Rogers Nelson, the world famous pop musician, passed away on April 21, aged 57. 

Among the many accolades the 57-year-old artist received, he won seven Grammy’s, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award.

As a tribute to the Rolling Stone-rated 27th greatest artist of all time, here are Prince’s top 5 songs. 

“Raspberry Beret”

This 1985 song from Prince and The Revolution’s “Around the World in a Day” album incorporates finger-cymbals, cellos, violins, and even a harmonica. 

“Controversy”

The eponymous hit single of Prince’s 1981 album addresses the world’s curiosity regarding his sexuality, gender identity, racial background, and religious beliefs.

“Kiss”

From his 1986 album “Parade,” this sensual and blues-inspired single lets everyone know that the only thing Prince cared about was love. 

“When Doves Cry”

Gracing the B-side of Prince and The Revolution’s “Purple Rain” album, this 1984 hit was number one on Hot 100 for five weeks, the Minnesota artist’s longest-running chart topper.
