A pregnant woman was found stabbed to death in New York City after people who live in nearby apartments heard her shouting “He’s going to kill the baby!”

Jennifer Irigoyen, 35, a real estate agent, was dragged screaming from her apartment in the borough of Queens and stabbed repeatedly at the entranceway of the apartment building around 1 a.m. on Feb. 3.

Maurice Roman Zereoue, one of the witnesses, told the New York Post that Irogyen, who was five months pregnant, shouted: “He’s got a knife! He’s going to kill the baby!” as a man pulled her from her apartment on the third floor and dragged her down the stairs.

The Post published a photo of the crime scene that showed copious amounts of blood on the entranceway steps.

Zereoue said he saw the murderer’s head but that it was obscured by a hood. The man had what appeared to be a butter knife in his hands.

“I seen him dragging her down the stairs,” said Zereoue, who peered into the hallway after hearing the screams. “I seen her hands hanging on” to a hallway wall for dear life,” he added.

Building superintendent Lisa Ramos said that surveillance video showed that the first stab went into the stomach.

Zereoue’s girlfriend called 911 while he at some point ran downstairs but by that time she was stabbed and bleeding profusely and the attacker was gone.

Zereoue said that he tried to extract the attacker’s name from the victim in the moments before death but she couldn’t communicate with him.

“I asked, ‘Do you know who he was?’ And she kept nodding yes and waving her arm,” he said. “She couldn’t speak.”

Irigoyen’s boyfriend was among those sought for questioning. Police sources told NBC that officers had previously received five calls reporting domestic disputes involving Irogyen and her ex-boyfriend.

Officers are searching for that man although it’s not clear whether he’s a suspect in the death.

Another neighbor told Ramos that she heard a commotion inside Irigoyen’s apartment prior to the brutal attack but they thought that the noise came from a party.

“I had a tenant that heard what was going on. She thought it was a party, because they have parties all the time,” Ramos told reporters, according to the New York Daily News.

“She heard the commotion, but she thought it was a party.”

‘Shocked’

Ramos, the superintendent of the building at 60-80 Myrtle Avenue, said she can’t imagine why someone would murder Irigoyen.

“She was a beautiful person, she was so bubbly,” Ramos said. “She was such a warm person.”

“I’m still shocked,” Ramos added to CBS. “She was a sweetheart, sweetheart. Really, really nice girl. Really, really nice.”
According to Irigoyen’s LinkedIn page, she was a licensed real estate saleswoman for Crosstown Apartments NYC and a human resources manager for the same company. Before joining the company in 2018, she spent seven years with the NY Casa Group.

The former Fashion Institute of Technology student was also a spinning instructor, a Zumba instructor, and a Latin ballroom instructor.

Neighbors added that the attack left them nervous and sad.

“Because I’m a mother I feel so sad,” Linda Gashi, a neighbor, told CBS. “There’s not only one but two person is that’s really sad. I don’t know why people do that.”
