Police in Ohio are searching for a man they believe stabbed a 7-year-old girl who was at the playground.
A 2nd-grader was stabbed while playing at the swings at World of Wonder school, the police said. The girl remains in critical condition in Dayton Children’s Hospital.
The assailant is described a a black male between 18 and 30 years of age, around 6 feet tall, and wearing a green sweatshirt over an orange shirt.
Charmine Blunt, parent to another child at the school, told Fox News that she was inside the gym when she suddenly heard screaming.
“All of the sudden we just hear the kids screaming and running,” Blunt said. “We were like what’s going on what’s going on. And they said a little girl got stabbed so we all run out here to see what’s going on and it was a guy with some blue shorts on.”
The school was immediately put on lockdown, and security personnel from neighboring schools came to secure the area.
The school principal said that the school will have extra security in the coming days when students are outdoors.
