Ferriday police arrested Alex Harrison, 30, on Monday, Dec. 4, on a probation and parole hold for cruelty to a juvenile after the video was posted to Facebook, Snapchat, and YouTube, Natchez The Democrat reported.
Police believe he was the one seen in the video whipping the young girl. He said in the video she is in the ninth grade, the Daily Mail reported.

In the video, a man in a red shirt can be seen standing over a girl who is kneeling and bent over on a couch while he hits her with what looks like a belt over 50 times.

While he is hitting her, he asks her if she wants to be a grownup or if she wants to go to jail.

She tries to put her hands and feet over her bottom as the man whips her, but he tells her to remove them before he continues.

The film then cuts to what looks like the girl seated in the kitchen with the man in the red shirt standing over her with buzzers. The man proceeds to cut off all her hair, all while asking if she wants to be a grownup.

Ferriday Police Department Detective Richard Madison told The Democrat that he couldn’t discuss the details of the video, but said that they determined from the video that this was child abuse.

“We determined from video evidence and witness testimony that the subject committed a serious crime, “ he said.

Juvenile investigator Bo Stevens, who is working on Steven’s case, agreed.

“There is a proper way to discipline children,” he told The Democrat. “This was above and beyond that. This was abuse.”
