GARDEN CITY, N.Y.—A Long Island caregiver faces charges of stealing $81,000 in jewelry from a woman for whom she worked.

Nassau County Police announced Sara Cruz’s arrest Monday. She’s accused of taking the valuables from a 73-year-old Garden City woman while providing in-home health care.

The 25-year-old Cruz was charged with grand larceny. Court records show she represented herself at her arraignment Saturday and didn’t enter a plea. Her bail was set at $20,000.

No phone number could be found for Cruz at the Lindenhurst address police gave.
