The Memphis Police Department is investigating a “joke” auction of kids on social media, after a photo surfaced of two infants with duct tapes over their mouths, with the caption “Kids for sale, 45% because they bad.”

The Tennessee Department of Children’s Services is also investigating the incident, according to WMC-TV. The children appear to have tears in their eyes in the photo.

Jaton Justsilly Jaibabi, who had posted the picture on Facebook, appears to have deactivated her account.

Jaibabi’s cousin Derion King defended the picture, saying that it was just a joke.

“Basically a joke at the moment that people just went overboard about. People make mistakes and that’s what this situation is, a lesson learned. They are safe, unharmed, and loved. That’s all it is to it,” King told WMC-TV.

Some were genuinely disturbed by the photo.

“I could not breathe. It took my breathe away; caused extreme emotional distress. These are children. These are human beings,” a parent told WMC-TV.
