Vallejo police have identified a woman who died in a solo vehicle crash on Sept. 8 night as Shanequia Shamburger.

Shamburger, 25, of Vallejo, was speeding in a 2017 Nissan Sentra north on Sonoma Boulevard north of Ryder Street when the Nissan struck a tree off the road around 11:20 p.m., police Lt. Michael Nichelini said.

A passer-by pulled Shamburger’s 2-year-old daughter from the back seat of the car through the rear window, Nichelini said. The girl suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Shamburger was trapped in the vehicle, which caught fire, and she died at the scene, Nichelini said.

The car was going so fast the crash pushed the engine into the front seat of the car. Nichelini said that some witnesses estimated the Nissan was traveling as fast as 120 mph.

Nichelini said that toxicology tests will determine if either drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

It was the 14th fatal crash in Vallejo this year. Only three occurred last year.
