Two Hong Kong Cricket Association Premier League 2-Day matches were played on Jan 12 to 13, with HKCC and KCC coming out on top in their respective matches.

In the second innings KCC started well but were tied down by some good spin bowling by Najeeb Amar and Nadeem Ahmed, but reached 225 for three wickets at the close. H R. Katri, KCC’s 16-year-old opener, batted with composure and patience making 77 runs, J.J. Atkinson made 30 before mistiming a ball from A. Mehmood. At stumps D.B. Dearing was on 104 and K. Shar on 5.

Pakistan Association made 217 runs in their first innings. KCC scored 17.33 points toward their standings ranking and Pakistan Association 4.77.

HKCC vs LSWCC

HKCC won the toss and batting first scored 196 in 62.5 overs. M. D. Ferguson scored 67 and T. J. Mc Mahon made 30. M. Dar took five wickets for 33 runs.

In their second innings, HKCC scored a further 282 all out. Ferguson completed a second half century in the match (57) and captain C. K. Kruger scored 99 not out.

In reply LSW just missed the first innings points, scoring 192 all out. They did not have the opportunity to bat for a second occasion as there was insufficient time to finish the match.

In this drawn game HKCC scored 16.78 points and LSWCC scored 5.92 points.

The final round of HKCA Premier 2-Day matches will be played on Apr 27 to 28. Current Premier 2-Day standings are: KCC are top with 39.61; HKCC are second on 22.23; Pakistan Association AMSUA are on 21.63; and LSWCC are on 16.37.

Sunday Championship League

Meanwhile in the Hong Kong Cricket Association’s Sunday Championship League, Headwin SLCC (Sri Lankans CC) hosting USRC/Millennium at Mission road on Sunday Jan 13 won the toss and asked USRC/Millennium to bat.

USRC/Millennium scored 334 for 8 wickets off 49 overs. J.F. Khan scored 60, A. Khan scored 84 and A. Mohammad scored 55 not out. There were also 54 extras.

In reply SLCC were all out for 72 off 19.4 overs for an easy win to USRC/Millenium. H. Ahmed took three wickets for 11 runs and J.F. Khan took four wickets for 18 runs.

Next week

There are two Sunday Championship matches scheduled for Jan 20: HKCC Scorpions against SLCC at HKCC; and Pakistan Association/AMSUA against LSW Knights at Mission Road.
