A parked plane was blown off an airport loading area at the Malta International Airport in Malta on Wednesday night, smashing its nose into a building.
The plane hit a local construction company’s building.
“It seems like it was the result of the strong winds. The building didn’t sustain major damage, but we presume the aircraft did,” Polidano Group’s legal representative, Jean Paul Sammut, told Times of Malta.
The plane—a Dassault Falcon 7X—was unmanned, the report said.
The strong winds may have blown away a wheel caulk that prevents it from moving, according to Malta Today.
The plane then slid down a slope and hit the offices.
The jet is registered in Belize, and it appears to belong to Michael Ashcroft, one of the richest people in the world, the reports said. Known as “Baron Ashcroft,” he was the former deputy chairman of the Conservative Party.
When Ashcroft learned the news, he took it as expected.
Local police and armed forces arrived at the site and closed the road off to traffic, according to Lovin Malta.
