A possible shooting near Brashear High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has left several students injured, according to reports on Wednesday. The school is on lockdown; a portion of the building houses the South Hills Middle School.
Pittsburgh officials said they are responding to a possible shooting near the high school, reported CBS Pittsburgh.
According to WXPI, three men wearing all black came out of the woods and fired shots as students were getting out of class.
WPXI-TV reported that three students were shot, and the suspects have not been taken into custody.
Two of the victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the other one suffered a critical injury. CBS reported one was shot in the head, suffering a bullet graze wound.
Police were reportedly searching the woods nearby the school.
WPXI reported that the victims of the shooting were not cooperating with police.
The high school lets students out at around 2:46 p.m. local time, while the shooting happened at 2:50 p.m. There are approximately 1,400 students at the high school, which is located on Crane Avenue.
Investigators told WPXI that shotgun shells were found on the scene. There were reports that bullet casings were found in the woods.
The students were taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital and Allegheny General Hospital.
Krystal Henson, a high school senior, told WPXI that chaos ensued at the school after the shooting. “I just hope everyone is OK,” she said.
