A pit bull protected a 9-year-old who was home alone when a burglar entered the child’s home in Nebraska.

The dog was with the child while the mother went to pick up her other children around 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14.

However, once the man entered the Lincoln, Nebraska, home, the child sent his pit bull after the intruder, reported CBS affiliate 1011 News.
The child had heard the door open before sending the dog after the man, reported KLKN.

The dog chased him all the way to his silver car, which he fled in.

The child then ran to the neighbor’s house and called his mother, who called the police.

The home is at 30th and T streets, Lincoln Police Department spokesperson Angela Sands told the Lincoln Journal Star.

Police are still investigating the attempted burglary.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lincoln police at 402-441-6000.
