A somewhat dubious report is claiming that Duchess Kate Middleton’s sister, Pippa, has made the royal wary by joining the Today Show on NBC.
A few weeks ago, it was reported that Pippa would serve as Today’s royal family correspondent.
There’s been no official word from the royal family on the hiring, although there’s been various rumors they’re not pleased.
But a report from Celeb Dirty Laundry says that Prince William and Kate have been warned by aides that NBC wants Pippa on board to get secrets of the royal family.
A source was quoted as saying, “The NBC brass put Pippa at the top of their ‘Most Wanted’ list of correspondents. Matt was totally taken with Pippa when she sat down for her exclusive first TV interview with him over the summer.”
It’s worth noting that most rumors about the British royal family should be taken with a grain of salt. This report is probably no exception.
One problem that comes to mind is why Kate would dish out secrets of the royal family to her sister when she knows that Pippa is a high-profile figure with the Today Show. And if the show did break any royal family news or rumors, Pippa would be implicated as the source of the information.
It’s also worth noting that NBC has pursued a number of family members of royals and officials, including George W. Bush’s daughter Jenna Bush, Chelsea Clinton, and Princess Diana’s brother.
