Nick Mason, drummer for the legendary British psychedelic art-rock group Pink Floyd, has donated some signed drum sticks and a book from his personal collection to Highcroft Racing’s “Miles to End Malaria” auction.

Mason, an auto collector and historic car driver, donated a pair of autographed drum sticks and his personal copy of the Formula One history, “Chequered History—a Celebration of 50 Years of World Championship Racing,” to help the American auto racing team’s battle against malaria in Africa.

The items can be bid on at the Miles to End Malaria Ebay auction site

Mason is the father-in-law of Highcroft team driver Marino Franchitti.

Highcroft Racing started its “Miles to End Malaria ” program in 2009 in conjunction with the nonprofit group Malaria No More . Along with sponsor Patrón Tequila, the team donates ten dollars for every race mile it completes each season, and solicits similar donations from fans.

Highcroft Racing also sponsors and supports public events around the world to increase awareness of malaria, an easily preventable disease which kills one child every 30 seconds in Africa, according to Malaria No More.
