The pilot who ejected from an F-16 fighter jet before it crashed in Houston, Texas, on Wednesday is in good condition officials told Reuters.

The aircraft, which was loaded with live ammunition, caught on fire after its fuel tank hit the ground, Master Sergeant Sean Cowher told Reuters.

The aircraft was leaving the Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base to conduct training exercises for the North American Aerospace Defense Command. After it crashed, the area within a one-mile radius of the aircraft was evacuated.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
