Police in Ecuador have rescued a small, terrified sloth on the side of a busy highway, photos show.
Photos of the lost sloth clinging to a traffic sign have gone viral. The incident took place on a road new Quevedo.
In an update, the Comisión de Tránsito del Ecuador said the mammal was returned to the wild after getting “checked by a vet, who determined that it was in optimal conditions for return to its habitat,” reported the Daily Telegraph.
Some users noted that the pool of liquid is a sign the animal went down from its tree habitat to use the bathroom.
According to the Comisión de Tránsito del Ecuador:
“Dear, we are grateful to all for your concern. Be advised, the sloth bear rescued by our unis was reviewed by a veterinarian, the same one that determined that I was in optimal conditions to be returning to their habitat. We are grateful to all those people who were interested in the health of the animal. We will continue to support this kind of cases along with the collaboration of citizenship. Greetings to all. ”
