Phil Collins, the long time singer-songwriter and drummer, recently released a new album but is also trying his hand at writing a history book about the Battle of the Alamo.

Collins, in a news release, said he became enthralled with the legendary Texas battle when he was a child and has a longtime collection of artifacts from the event in 1836.

“I was in love with the Alamo when I was 5 years old. I saw Walt Disney’s Davy Crockett, with Fess Parker,” Collins told the New York Times. “That was it for me. I never stopped thinking about the Alamo from that day to this.”

“I’m a huge collector of memorabilia. I’ve got Davy Crockett’s bullet pouch. I’ve got Colonel Travis’s belt.”

Collins recently released Going Back this week and it reached the top of the Billboard UK charts.
